Adapt + Reuse is an online publication dedicated to highlighting adaptive reuse, historic preservation, and architectural conservation projects throughout the United States. Our small team of writers and researchers delves deep into the archives of the National Register of Historic Places, as well as local landmark records, newspaper articles, and more, with the goal of providing details and context for some of the nation’s most noteworthy adaptive reuse and historic preservation projects. Our stories cover many types of redevelopment projects, from retail to residential to public spaces and beyond. Through our stories and profiles of these structures and their histories, we hope to promote enthusiasm about the fascinating and culturally important fields of adaptive reuse and historic preservation. After all, most of the buildings we cover would be long gone if they had not eventually found new purposes.
Adapt + Reuse is presented by Cowford Media (The Coastal Jacksonville LLC), a small local business formed in 2015 in Jacksonville, FL.
Images used in accompaniment with our articles are usually acquired from historic records or Wikimedia Commons. Unless otherwise noted, those photos are subject to Creative Commons CC BY-SA 4.0 licensing; photos may be used or adapted, but the original photographer must be credited.
